Who makes this
My name is [YOUR NAME — replace before launch]. I build small, single-purpose calculators for problems where the arithmetic is fiddly, the answer is genuinely useful, and the existing advice is scattered across forty blog posts.
This one started with the ordinary experience of standing at a cutting table holding a pattern envelope, three measurements that pointed at three different sizes, and no idea which one to believe.
What I am not
I am not a patternmaker, a professional fitter, or a tailor. I have not drafted a commercial block and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What this site does is arithmetic against published charts, done carefully, with the method shown.
Fitting is a craft and a calculator is not a substitute for it. If a garment matters — a wedding dress, a tailored jacket, anything you will wear for a decade — the right next step after this page is a muslin, and possibly a fitter.
Where the size charts come from
Every chart in the calculator is the pattern company's own published body-measurement chart, reproduced as numbers and linked back to the page it was published on. Measurements are facts, not creative work, so reproducing them is fair; the brands' drawings, instructions and written guidance are theirs and are not copied here.
Two things follow from that, and both are worth saying plainly. First, these are body measurements, not finished-garment measurements — the ease built into a specific pattern varies by design, and the envelope's finished measurements always win over a chart. Second, brands revise their charts. Where a number here disagrees with the brand's current published chart, the brand is right and I want to know about it.
What the tool cannot know
It cannot see your posture, your shoulder slope, the depth of your ribcage, or whether the pattern you are holding is drafted close-fitting or deliberately oversized. It reads six numbers against a chart. That is enough to tell you which lines to cut and where to blend between them, which is the hard part beginners are left to guess — but it is not a fitting.

How this is paid for
Display advertising, and nothing else. I do not sell patterns, take affiliate commission from pattern companies or fabric shops, or receive anything based on which brand the tool suggests fits you best. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on the page it affects, and it will never sit on top of a recommendation.
Corrections
If a chart is out of date or a calculation is wrong, tell me and I will fix it. Brand chart revisions are the most useful thing you can send. Contact.
